Bread from Heaven
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”
— Isaiah 30:15 (RSV-2CE)
Today’s Portion
Anna didn’t know what to do with silence.
So she tried to outwork it.
She filled her planner with color-coded blocks. Organized the spice rack. Rewrote her to-do list.
If God wouldn’t move, maybe she could. And maybe He’d notice.
She prayed between errands, read scripture during laundry, and kept one ear open — just in case heaven whispered something while she was checking boxes.
But the more she achieved, the less she felt settled.
Peace wasn’t arriving with productivity.
That night, she found herself holding her pen like a lifeline — her hand cramping from a day of writing, highlighting, checking off.
She loosened her grip slowly.
And whispered, “I don’t want to miss You in all this motion.”
Where This Touches You
- Is your busyness a way of trying to manage the unknown?
- Where are you gripping too tightly — in thought, in schedule, or in spirit?
Manna to Carry with You
Sometimes our need to do is just a mask for our fear of surrender.
But trust doesn’t hustle — it waits.
Not passively, but quietly.
With hands open instead of fists clenched.
🍞 Bread for the Journey
Jesus, I offer You what I’ve been trying to control.
Not just the task list — but the fear underneath it.
Slow my hands. Quiet my mind.
Let me feel You even when nothing gets checked off.
