A reflection on waiting, Scripture, and the quiet grace of staying.  Learning to Listen Anyway……….

There are seasons when Scripture comes alive—when verses leap off the page, and our hearts, like the disciples at Emmaus, burn within us.

And then there are seasons when the Word feels… quiet.

We read, and nothing stirs.
We listen, and it feels like silence.
We open our Bibles, only to feel a gentle fog.

But silence doesn’t mean absence.

In fact, some of the deepest revelations happen not in the noise, but in the stillness. When God seems quiet, He is often simply inviting us to wait—
to dwell with Him in trust, not in answers.

In those quiet seasons, Scripture is not a puzzle to solve. It’s a place to rest.

Let it wash over you. Sit with a single verse. Read it again and again, not for insight, but for presence.

Sometimes the Word is a trumpet.
Sometimes, it’s a whisper.
And sometimes, it’s simply a hand on your shoulder, reminding you:

“I am here.”

You don’t have to hear everything.
You just have to stay.

 Come And See

Choose a single verse this week from readings of the day or the week.
Write it slowly. Sit with it in silence.
Let it speak to you—not in lightning bolts, but in peace.

Even when the Word feels silent, He is still speaking.

For those who wish to sit quietly with the Word, you may also spend a few moments with the Emmaus Silent Meditation.
